Permits
Various permits are required by city ordinance. A member of the City’s staff can assist you with determining the appropriate permit and filling out the application.
Permits are required for the following:
- Signs
- Parades
- Public assembly
- Filming production
- Mobile food trucks
- Temporary use / Special event
- Canvassing / Soliciting – door to door sales
- Saturday work permits for construction
- Vacant structures – not legally occupied for at least 60 days
- Utility installation within City right of way
- Small cell - collocate a small wireless facility in the public right of way or to install, modify, or replace a pole or a decorative pole within City right of way
- Vending machines - operating outdoor unattended self-service device
- Short Term Rental
Sign Permits
Permanent Signs
Within the City of Dacula, permanent wall and permanent ground signs require a sign permit. Please review Article XII: Signs and Advertising to ensure the proposed sign meet’s City Ordinances prior to submitting an applications. Some locations have additional sign requirements per the site’s governing zoning conditions.
Completed Applications will be reviewed by a member of the Planning and Development Department within 30 days of submittal.
Temporary Signs
Temporary signs are permissible within the City of Dacula for a period not to exceed 30 days with an approved permit. Temporary sign applications must be submitted to the Planning and Development Department for review prior to permit issuance.
Note:
- Only one temporary sign permit will be granted for each business within any thirty (30) day interval.
- Only one temporary ground sign shall be permitted on each commonly owned, shared commercial frontage.
- All signs or advertising devices must be set back at least ten (10) feet from either the edge of pavement (concrete/asphalt) or out of the right-of-way, whichever is greater.
- Temporary signs shall be removed after the 30-day temporary sign permit has expired without renewal.
- Flags and banners shall not exceed thirty-two (32) square feet. Temporary yard signs shall not exceed six (6) square feet.
- A temporary sign permit shall not be issued if there is an active permit on the subject site at the time of application submittal.
- The applicant is responsible for obtaining the property owner’s permission to erect a temporary sign on the property.
- A fee of thirty-dollars ($30.00) shall be charged for each temporary sign permit.
