Mayor and City Council
The City Council is comprised of a mayor and four council members who are elected at-large and serve four-year terms. The City Council has legislative authority, which includes, but is not limited to, supervising administrative officers, formulating policies, and exercising city powers. The authority and duties of City Council are delineated in the city charter.
Trey King, Mayor

Trey King has been a resident of Dacula for over 30 years. Before moving to Dacula, he completed high school in Stephens County. Trey attended Young Harris College receiving an Associate’s Degree in Science, then earning his Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy at the University of Georgia. He later furthered his education by earning a Master’s of Science degree from Piedmont College as well as a Specialist in Education Leadership and Administration from Lincoln Memorial University.
Trey worked for 15 years as a retail pharmacist before deciding that he could better serve his community in a different way and followed his passion to become a teacher. Currently, he is in his 24th year as a Chemistry teacher at one of Gwinnett County’s most successful public schools, Collins Hill High School. For the last 16 years he has served as the school’s liaison to the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the state’s largest professional education association. While at Collins Hill, he has been given the opportunity to mentor new teachers, serve as safety team advisor, develop curriculum, serve as content team lead and advocate for hundreds of struggling students.
As an active part of the community Trey has served as a member of the Dacula Zoning Board of Appeals, a member of the Planning Commission, a member of the Steering Committee for the City of Dacula’s 2010 and 2030 Comprehensive Land Use Plans, Chairman of the Planning Commission, and as a City Council member. Trey has enjoyed working with people and helping others throughout his adult life. He has served as a mentor-teacher through Good Samaritan Ministries for inmates at the Phillips State Prison Transitional Center, volunteered with the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Gwinnett Recycles, Shepherd Staff Ministries and worked as volunteer at Gwinnett’s Indigent Care Clinic. He is a past Vice President of the Gwinnett Municipal Association (GwMA) and is currently serving as President. For the past 2 years he has served on GwMA’s Executive Board and Intergovernmental Relations Committee. In addition, he is currently serving on the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Trey always enjoys listening to and playing music; playing his bass clarinet in a number of local orchestras and is currently studying the bag pipes. He is fond of driving and working on vintage automobiles while teaching the younger generation the value of being your own mechanic. He and his wife, Dawn, have three sons and celebrated their 38th year of marriage in March. Most recently, he has become a first-time grandpa and looks forward to passing on the passion he has for his family and Dacula.

Denis has been a resident of Dacula since 2017 and has lived in Gwinnett county for over 20 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 14 years serving as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant and Drill Instructor during his tour of duty from 1981 to 1995. After his tour, he worked hard as a disabled Veteran, to earn an Associates of Arts Degree in Business Management, a Bachelor of Art degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science Degree in management with emphasis in Project Management. He also obtained his certification as a Project Management Professional, PMP. Denis has worked in the Telecommunication industry for over 20 years and is currently a Vice President of Operations.
Prior to serving on the City Council, Denis served on the Dacula Planning Commission. During his term as a council member, he plans to prioritize growth that enhances the lifestyle, comfort and safety of the residences of Dacula. He hopes to help the city grow offering the residents to live in a small town with a big city feeling. Denis is passionate about being a servant of the community and helping others.
Denis enjoys reading and learning as much as possible. He and his wife Sheila together have five grown children and 2 grandchildren. During their spare time they enjoy spending time with friends and family. They also enjoy working around the house and traveling.

Ann Mitchell has been a resident of Dacula since 2005. She is an Atlanta native and has lived in Fulton, Douglas, and Cobb Counties. She is married to Dennis and they have two sons, Aaron and Eli. Ann identifies herself as a Christ-Follower and fully relies on the hope of Christ for daily living. Ann enjoys acting in live theatre, lots of laughter, the outdoors (specifically the mountains), delicious food, music, reading, and crafting. She is a people person and has never met a stranger. Ann is a knowledge seeker and can usually be found learning about something.

Sean has been a Dacula resident for over 27 years and is active and engaged in the community. He has raised his three children in Dacula while working in the Information Technology and Cybersecurity fields for the past 30+ years. Dacula is home, so Sean cares deeply about the city, its residents, and the success of its local businesses. He wants to ensure that Dacula’s current and future growth is managed with collaborative planning and vision that balances growth with quality of life. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. As a sinner saved only by God’s grace, faith is the foundational center of his life. He is a member at Restoration Presbyterian Church in Dacula. Sean has served on Dacula City Council since March 2020. He knows how to get things done at the local level and strives to ensure that the freedom and well-being of all Dacula residents are carefully considered in all council decisions.
