Boil Water Advisory in portion of Dacula
Posted: June 15, 2024
To ensure the safety of our customers and out of an abundance of caution, the Department of Water Resources is issuing a boil water advisory for the area shown on the map below.
Late this afternoon, a private contractor hit a water main causing a failure and temporary loss of pressure in the water system in the Dacula area. The pressure temporarily dropped to levels that could compromise water quality. While it is unlikely, a potential health hazard may exist in the affected area from backflow or intrusion of groundwater.
Crews from the Department of Water Resources are working to repair the water main failure and will flush the lines to ensure the water is safe. Residents in this area are advised to use caution and boil water that will be used for drinking and for preparing food.
Water used for drinking or preparing food, including consumption by pets, should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil. Water may be used without boiling for non-potable uses such as bathing, provided it is not swallowed or placed in the mouth.
Testing will occur to ensure the safety of the water and the website will be updated when the Boil Water Advisory is lifted. Results of this testing typically takes one to two days. Please continue to follow the above advisory until testing is complete and it is again safe to consume County water.
The area shown in red below is the only affected area.
