Monday, May 28, 2018, is Memorial Day. The celebration events include a 5K race and our annual Memorial Day Parade. We expect a large turnout for these events. There will need to be street closures during these events; safety of event participants and spectators is paramount. The Dacula City Council invites you to attend and to participate in Dacula’s celebration of military and civic service both past and present.
Expected street closures:
- Parade route closed for 5K race from 7:30am until 8:30am (Dacula Road, Second Avenue, and Hebron Church Road – other roads may be congested )
- These roads will be reopened at 8:30am
- The parade route will be closed for the Memorial Day Parade at 9:40am
- All roads reopen at the end of the parade (sometime around 11:30am to noon)
Please take these closures into account for travel during Memorial Day. Also take note, if you park along the parade route, you may not be able to leave before the events are over.
Electronic signs will be placed along the major routes a few days before Memorial Day to post these street closure times. Police officers and civilian volunteers will help control traffic and provide for spectator safety during the events. Please take note of their instructions and make this an overall safe event.
