Does anyone know what the construction is that is going on across the street from the old Beef O'Brady's and Publix on Dacula Road?  The trucks are entering through the new Hebron High School entrance.  It doesn't appear to be a part of the new Kroger, that appears to be going on closer to Fence Road.

If it is another strip mall, I will scream!  Not that I hate strip malls, but that we are already facing almost a 60% vacancy rate on the ones that we do have all within 1/4 mile of this location.

I was wondering the same thing. Is it an expansion of the baseball fields?

I guess my fears are confirmed.  It is the Kroger.  Yes it extends that far.  Basically from the corner of Dacula/Fence Road all the way down to Hebron High School.  It appears that they may share at entrance with the High School, then they will also extend Old Peachtree into the development.

We knew this was one of the biggest Kroger's that have been built, but it has been confirmed that this is the largest in the Southeast.  I am still confirming whether this is the largest in the country, but it will be near it.  In essense this will be larger than all of the new development combined.  I am not sure how, as Kroger so clearly stated, "will cause no increase or problems with traffic".  It is quite bad now at certain times of the day.

In addition, I am not sure how they are going to fill 12 more strip mall slots.

One nail salon; one dry cleaner, and that leaves 10.

I am curious if this Kroger will bring jobs with it, or will others in the company just transfer to this location?  I would love to know that unemployed Dacula residents will actually get something positive from this development (JOBS!).

Here is a link to their plan showing the orientation of the store on the site.

 http://www.connollyrealty.com/Resource/Dacula%20Maket%20Flyer%205-09.pdf

I don't exactly see that there will be that great of a traffic increase in relation to the store size. There are "x" number of grocery shoppers at any one time. They now go to either Publix, Ingle's, or the Kroger at 124/324. It's not like there will be a huge increase of people coming to this area that weren't already coming here.

To me the biggest problem with traffic in the area is that people don't know the traffic laws. Turning left (say into Sonic) from Dacula Rd. is illegal. The same, turning left onto Dacula Rd. from Sonic is illegal. If people would use the turning lanes provided at the traffic lights (as they are supposed to do) we wouldn't have as many back-ups as we do.

The other problem (and this is the city's fault and has been addressed for future development) is having parking lots like Taco Bell/KFC that doesn't allow traffic to go around the store without having to be in the drive-thru lane. Hopefully this will be fixed by having an exit on the backside of the lot.

Did anybody else notice that STARBUCKS is on the corner of 'shops "B"'? I wonder if that is internal to KROGER or stand alone store?

Since that is the "shared" corner, it looks to me as if it will be internal to Kroger...especially since the sign also appears on the front elevation of the Kroger store itself.

Is anyone else sick to death of this Kroger junk, or is it just me?  Dacula will be known (for a time, anyway) as the town with the biggest Kroger in the state of Georgia.  This should draw thousands of visitors yearly, which will in turn boost the economy here .  (I'm being facetious, people.)  Aparently, size does matter.  Then, when Kroger decides to out-do themselves in another neighborhood and build a bigger store, the thrill will be gone for Dacula.

The only decent-paying positions for this Dacula Kroger will be offered to people already within the Kroger organization.  Hence, Dacula residents will have first dibs on all the minimun-wage positions.

yeeeeee-haaaww!

Hmm...wonder which option is better, twenty five minimum wage jobs or twenty five people remaining unemployed?

Face it folks, Dacula will never be home to a company where even the janitor makes a six figure income. This Kroger, even if it already has the management team in place is still better than no jobs at all.

...as far as providing for a family?  I don't think those jobs are going to be the boon that the mayor/city council kept trying to push.   I'm just sayin'....

Where can we see the plan for the Kroger layout mentioned?  Really, a Starbucks!?  I'm sure fans of good coffee are excited but I feel sorry for my friend Vladimir at World Delights Coffee.  He runs a truly local shop that should be supported over a big chain store.

Maybe the school kids can hang out at starbucks (what...like theyr'e not going to?) and real coffee aficionados can hang out at World Delights.   Starbucks?  Really people?  ...they're so yesterday.  ;-)

Vlad has cake! Darn good cake! Why would I go to a Kroger Starbucks coffee bar. Keep in mind it is not a full Starbucks like in Hamilton Mill nor Rt 20. It will be a coffee bar like the Kroger on 124.

I still see many vacant store fronts coming. Check that, many "additional" vacant store fronts coming.
